Caen Airport is to close due to runway resurfacing from 19 July until 6 September 2010. 

There still appears to be some confusion in the minds of a few whether the IMC privileges apply within Guernsey airspace, they do. Having confirmed it with the DCA today you can accept an IFR approach within Guernsey Class D airspace provided you have a minimum of 1800 meters vis for either arrival or departure.  This is not true for Jersey airspace, their ANO has not been amended to include these

As many of you will know the IMC rating could not be used within Guernsey airspace other than the ability to fly down to 3km visibility should the need arise, that itself was an anomaly and made little sense.  However with the recently amended Guernsey ANO I have confirmed with SATCO that the rules that apply within the rest of UK airspace for the application of IMC priveledges now apply here.

As some of you may know GA have been discouraged from using this airfield due to the movements limit.  The operators have kept the movements available to bus -jets .  However the credit crunch has changed their minds somewhat.  You can now ask for PPR but be aware the charge for a single piston is £390.

There has been little movement on the CPAC front since the news that Aerobase would be purchasing the company became common knowledge.  As far as we know Mr Strauss who is leading this venture has so far failed to put up the funds.  The factory remains at Cape Giradeau, a deal is in place for it to continue there when/if the purchase proceeds.  Jim Richards who has now produced 15 Super

It is now possible to purchase an annual landing card at Cherbourg.  The price is Euro 350 +TVA for light aircraft below 2000 Kgs .  It will allow you landing and parking for the year.  Since parking is now around Euro 10 per day it could be worthwhle
